#10: Movie Time!

When you think Disney these days, you might think “Hannah Montana” or “That’s So Raven” or other preteen live action shows. What everyone seems to forget, though, is the fact that before tweens singing and alter-ego singers with near perfect lives… there were Disney animated movies. The one that changed movie history was on of my all time favorites, The Lion King.

The 1996 feature film is the tale about a young lion named Simba who is to inherit the title of king from his father, Mufasa. His uncle, Scar, also wants the throne, though, and he plots and kills Mufasa to get it. After this loss, Simba runs away to the outskirts of the Pride Lands, where he meets his two best friends and lifelong buds. His love from the past, a young lioness named Nala, wants him to come back and reclaim his rightful place at the throne. Simba’s not sure if he wants to, but after discovering the horrors of what his uncle has done as king, he’s determined to take back what is rightfully his.

Now, The Lion King has some amazing and heartfelt moments all throughout the film that makes you perhaps want some tissues alongside you for the trip. Not to mention the songs are catchy and original. I end up singing, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” at the ending credits and hitting the “play” button to watch the film again. It’s like one of those addicting drugs you can’t get enough of, the movie is THAT good.

Despite its perfections, though, Lion King does have its flaws. As much as I adore James Earl Jones as the voice of Mufasa, I really can only see him doing Darth Vader from Star Wars. Not to mention it was made in 1996, so the graphics might not be as clear as some people want them to be. As minuet as this is, I think it really has an impact upon those people who watch the movies these days. They want everything crystal clear, so maybe if they tuned the graphic and drawing a bit more for the Blu-Ray, I think a lot of people would end up buying it.

It's no "Finding Nemo" either. "Lion King" doesn't have any of the fancy 3D graphics many of us are accustomed to. It's completely drawn- from the scenes with Scar plotting Mufasa's assassination to Timon's reveal of his and Pumbaa's natural habitat in their scene with Simba. However, it's just as clear as a Nemo-esque film.

Overall, I'd give it four-and-a-half pieces of meat out of five. Nothing can be perfect in the eyes of a critic, but "Lion King" comes pretty dang close to perfection. And it takes an awful lot for me to think something is near perfect.

#8: Movie Time!~

I think this scene from the movie "Finding Nemo" is a little bit difficult to work with since it's not live action, but... oh well. I think Marlin's spazzing would be something in the script they would use. It's really kind of an ominous feel in the ocean, made with a light blue aura but with the sort of feeling that something bad is going to happen. The fish are moving around in circles at one point, and then they finally stay in one spot to make sure that they can talk to the oncoming whale in their direction. The sunlight is sort of blurred for the purposes of people to have worry about the future. The sort of "around the side" idea also works here, too, seeing as we kind of not only get into the character's heads, but also their perspective of what is going on. I love the close-ups idea, too, seeing as I need to know what could have happened beforehand. The people doing their voices also can figure out what's going on by watching the scene and reading their script. There's sort of this hard tension going on in the scene with Dory and Marlin, and they're lost. I think the actors should put in quite a bit of worry, especially Marlin. His son is going missing, after all, and he has a right to sound this way. Dory's character is completely clueless, to be honest, and her person should act as if she's a ditzy blonde. Sure, Dory might not be DITZY, but she's sort of out of the loop with everyone and everything. It works, in the end of it all.

#7: Stuffed Animal Day

One time, there was a young girl who nearly died in a car accident, and she was actually saved by the stuffed animals her mother had bought her that day. The state of Minnesota was so stunned by these little lifesavers, they decided to create a holiday dedicated to the plushies- June 4th, National Plush Day, in which the whole day is dedicated to plush animals of every kind. It doesn’t really matter what kind of stuffed toys they are, they just need to have some sort of cotton or beans inside them. People around the nation can celebrate by decorating their house with large various animals and other fluffy items, such as pillows and blankets. You may also get out streamers of blue and white and decorate the house with those. On National Plushie Day, you are able to give gifts and provide many other people with happiness and good cheer. There are various parades on this occasion, and it usually falls on the last day of school. The kids usually take this day and make it a sort of party day at school, and many a time, the teachers join in as well. On this day, there are also quite a couple of specials on the TV. After the incident with the child, many teachers decided to dedicate the school day to teaching children about the safety of driving and being in the right seat in the car at times. Not only is National Plush Day one of gift giving and happiness, but it’s a day to learn about car safety issues. I think that seems fair enough to be a holiday.

#6: Law of Photography

I wish to put in a law about photography in general. I really would love to have every person in the US to snap some sort of picture of a beautiful sunset, sunrise, or just something about nature in general. Being a huge fan of photographs of nature and peaceful moments, I'd want to see a great deal of books about taking pictures and photos in general. I would want there to be a camera in every household in the USA. If there wasn't, then we would make one available to every person, sort of like the No Child Left Behind agreement that our old president came up with. And if you decided to break the rules, I'd possibly go easy on you- or not. I'd force that person to write a ten thousand word essay on why they chose to not take pictures for the world to see. It's a lot of words, but like they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words." That, or you could go and choose to take five hundred different pictures of places you have seen or go and see in the near future. There's also the issue of copy writing- if someone stole a picture from another and claimed it as their own, not only wold they have to apologize publicly, but they would also have to pay a fine of $250.00. It might seem like a lot of money for a simple photo, but in a sense, it's like stealing art. You just don't do it. The pictures wouldn't have to be of anything very special, either- it could be just a tree swaying in the backyard or a natural disaster aftermath. It's all about capturing the moment, and there are many moments this world has to offer. We catch too few of them, and so many people don't want to get them in the moment. I want that changed.

#5: Monster Pet

This is a deagle. A hybrid cross between a dog and an eagle, this magnificent creature lives in the northernmost Rocky Mountains. It is known to live by itself, and the only natural ones left are of the male species. The female deagles did not go to breed with the males in time, seeing as they had to care for their young while in the face of hunger and enemies. Yes, the deagles have enemies, namely that of the wolves that roam the land in search for fresh meat. As time has passed, the deagles have lost all ability to fly-- their wings disappearing off their backs, seeing as they have no reason to actually flee except to protect their children. The deagle is a surprisingly docile creature, attacking only when provoked and when defending their nest. It's an omnivore, feasting on ferns in the trees and other small rodents, such as mice and squirrels, when possible. It's true that this species is nigh near extinct, but that doesn't mean that cloning cannot help bring possibly bring the species back in the future. The deagle is quite the docile animal once you study it in its natural habitat, possibly even lovable.

#3: Beautiful Soul

As the clouds reflect on the water, you can see that there's a sort of serenity on the lake. It feels like ice as my feet dip inside its unmoved reflection. I see the water and allow it to move the mountains, giving me this kind of serenity. It's almost as if I'm being transported to another land; I have fallen in love with the landscape instantly. The waters of the lake make me wish I could drink from its liquid goodness, restoring in me some of my life. I guess I could consider it the 'water of life,' in a sense. As I listen to the water touch the boulders, I think about the serenity of the lake. Water is music- the pitter-patter of waves in synchronization with the rhythm of time itself. Even if there are no waves on the water, the ripple effect just seems to move me. Someday, I want to taste this water- it looks to be some of the purest you can find on the planet. The liquid runs down my throat, quenching my thirst for something other than that which comes from a shower-head. There might not be a flavor to the water, but I couldn't care less. I love it all the same. This lake is clearer than a wine glass right now, even though I see my reflection. And while I watch the ripples pan out and listen to its heartbeat, I can't help but wonder if anyone else can see the beauty of the lake.
